I provide the highest quality private violin and viola lessons for students of all ages and abilities, conveniently located at Price and Guadalupe in Tempe, AZ, or Thomas and 48th St. in Phoenix.
I use a traditional teaching style, adapted to meet the individual needs of each student. I have been most strongly influenced by both the Suzuki and Rolland methods of string instruction for beginners and intermediate students, and by the Dounis method for advanced players. I use aspects of all methods in my teaching. Beginners and intermediate students are instructed as to proper posture, note reading, rhythm, basic bow strokes, beginning shifting, and vibrato, using the Suzuki method books through Book 4. Advanced students build on their previous knowledge to refine technique, learn three-octave scales, and learn more complex repertoire. Advanced students also prepare for youth orchestra auditions, high school Regional auditions and, if desired, high school All State auditions. All students participate in studio recitals with piano accompaniment twice a year, and have the opportunity to participate in ASTACAP exams on an annual basis.
To learn more or to schedule a trial lesson, please fill out the Student Registration form or the Contact form. I will respond within 48 hours.
Online instruction is available via Skype, FaceTime, and Zoom.
